Rex Peterson Clinic at Windrock Farm Nov 22-25
At the last clinic, Rex worked with several horses who had bad behavioural problems, here is Nate, a four year old TB who had learned some bad habits and needed to go back to basics. Watching this young horse transform over the few days was remarkable. He is a kind horse who wants to be shown the correct way and rewarded for it. He learned to move off the legs, two track, accept better contact and after some discussion he even conceded to bowing. Many people ask why bow a horse? It is a fun thing for the owner to show his trick horse, but more importantly it shows submission from the horse. Whenever the horses eye is lower than the trainers, the horse is giving in. In the wild horses run in herds and have a definite pecking order, it is imperative that you are the leader of the parade when around your horse. The bow also stretches out the shoulder and back and can release tension. Every horse in the barn learned to bow this past week. For information on signing up for future clinics, contact cari.
